I can't see it being a free upgrade for current subbers but that doesn't mean they won't be able to purchase one. I tested it with a Premiership football match and the improvement over HD was clearly visible: grass was full of texture, the ball was easier to see and the players looked clearer and cleaner.

It's been a few years since its launch, and it's a better service than ever before – despite strong competition from 4K broadcast competitors. Some say that the remote isn't as easy as earlier models, but it's simple to use and is absolutely perfect. I have put our HDR-2000T back in it's box and haven't missed the 'extra features' of that unit in the slightest. Various add ons can be bolted on to your package too, offering wider sports, entertainment and movie coverage as you go up the pricing bracket, with the 'VIP' set giving you everything – including full Sky Cinema and Sports access through the Now TV app.

There’s a lot more to the DTR-T4000 than just UHD, being a fully-fledged YouView PVR with seven-day rollback EPG, an array of on-demand content (some of it free, some rentable, some for purchase) and access to BT TV’s subscription package. Iused to be able to record 6 or 7 channels at once providing they were on the same MUX or IP channels. I’m NOT SAYING BT are going to drop YouView, but by the looks of it, it’s on it’s way out as the standard UI for free to air TV.When this gets into the wild it will be interesting to see if they have various apps pre-loading for switching (eg. Read more about the condition New: A brand-new, unused, unopened and undamaged item in original retail packaging (where packaging is applicable). Our sources suggest that the update will probably follow around September 2021, and we suspect that part of the reason for this delay may be because it will need to integrate with their next gen BT Ultrafast Complete WiFi system and Smart Hub 3 router (WiFi 6 / 802.
