About this deal

A raíz de eso, la soledad y la conexión con otras personas (y seres) también son un tema prevalente en el libro. White Beak is the grey whale in need of help this time and my classes just love the whole Topic of climate change and animals so it has them sat on the edge of their seats willing a happy outcome.

Parfit tries, and hopefully fails, to convince the reader that Luna (a male orca, if you don't know) is better off in a bay away from all orcas, constantly surrounded by boat traffic and people who want to kill him, subjected to noise that could harm his hearing and pollutants that could poison him. Fact one - which I have already mentioned - is that the grey whale has twice been hunted right to the brink of extinction. The beginning as a lot of set up where the reader is told about the humans in Luna's story and a little bit of their backgrounds, which was great later on when the story is mostly Luna centered, but is greatly affected by the humans in his life. This is a side of his mother he never knew about before, a time in her life when she was happy, when she was a child, like him. Está claro que estamos en un momento crítico respecto a estos problemas, así que me parece genial tener una historia que ayude a concienciar a los más pequeños porque, afrontémoslo, cada generación se encontrará con que el problema es cada vez mayor. For, this is one of the most beautiful and heart-warming stories that i've ever read ,that left me crying buckets full of tears because it is really beautiful and i myself felt some kind of deep connection with it. There are no words to describe how much I hated this book, but I'll do my best so you don't make the same mistake.

The scene with the canoes and the singing is really beautiful and poignant and excessively memorable. Rio takes us on a wonderful adventure to save ‘White Beak’ whilst saving himself from the guilt and heartfelt loss of being away from his mum and his home. From interviews, recorded evidence, video footage, and their own experience, they manage to capture the wonders, trials, and tribulations of an orca who touched many lives. A spellbinding adventure full of illustrations by the wonderful Levi Pinfold - that will leave you in awe - Hannah Gold brings you close to the ocean, the wonderful animals that inhabit there and the wrongdoings humans have brought upon both. My favourite part was when rio saved white beak from the net and she was nearly dieying but then rio soft words saved her from drowning.who engaged with Luna, opened my eyes and perception to the reality that communication is more than just words spoken. I have discovered an author whose stories, style and passion for the natural world truly 'make my heart smile'! The Lost Whale has a strong environmental message and an atmosphere aided by the striking illustrations of Levi Pinfold, which help the story come to life, just as it did in the previous collaboration between author and illustrator in The Last Bear. Through a trip to the local museum Rio learns all about the grey whales: size, markings, migration routes, hunters, conservation efforts and more. Rio has been sent to live with a grandmother he barely knows in California, while his mum is in hospital back home.

At first, people are strongly discouraged from having contact with the whale and various individuals are tasked from keeping people away from Luna. standing back from a book and examining the shell of the narrative can be incredibly emotional once you have been on the journey with the characters from start to finish.

My favourites are obviously the one of Rio and White Beak in the water together but also the one of the dolphins bow-surfing next to the boat. Trying to find something strong that binds us together again just as Rio had found it through her mother's love for the ocean and a beautiful Grey Whale named White Beak. Plans about what to do with the little whale create conflict between government agencies, native people groups and individuals who use the Sound for work. That is until an incredible encounter with White Beak, a gentle giant of the sea changes everything. Some of my earliest memories are visits to the library with my mum and then scampering back home to lose myself in the pages of a book.

After being handed his mothers sketch book and being invited on a whale spotting tour, he meets White Beak for the first time and an instant connect starts. This follow Rio on his journey of realising that he can't fix everything but he can help fix some things one job at a time.
